Featured Speakers

Moderator: Nick Hadley, Vice President-Engineering and Construction Services Group, Commerce Bank- Nick has spent over 20 years in Banking/Financial Services, with the last 9 years at Commerce Bank. Nick is responsible for driving the market strategy for Engineering and Construction across the banks western footprint primarily focusing on Middle Market companies.  

Panelists: 

Parker Young, President, Straub Construction- Parker serves as the president of Straub Construction and oversees the preconstruction department. Parker began with Straub as a Superintendent in 1996. He was promoted to Project Manager in 1997 and served as the Vice President of Operations from 2002-2020. In 2020 Parker was named president of Straub. His educational background is from Kansas State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction Science and Management.

Susan Schaefer, Vice President, JE Dunn Construction- As Vice President in Operations, Susan serves as a business unit leader and project executive for her clients and teams in JE Dunn’s General Construction Group.  A graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Science, Susan has 21 years of diverse construction management experience from New York City, Melbourne (Australia) and Kansas City.  

Joey Perell, DBIA, Regional Operations Manager, Garney Construction- As Regional Operations Manager at Garney, Joey is responsible for facilitating and administrating multiple water and wastewater infrastructure construction projects. His duties include issuing contracts, coordination, and management of contractors and subcontractors, processing shop drawings and submittals, periodic pay estimates, safety, and job site quality control. Joey is a graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management. 

Joyce Farris, Managing Director, CBIZ MHM, LLC- Joyce is responsible for coordinating audits, reviews, and compilations for her clients, as well as, performing the engagement quality review for other engagements. Joyce's clients have local, national and international operations and are concentrated in the construction, manufacturing, wholesale distribution, and transportation industries. During her career, Joyce took a leave from the organization to pursue an opportunity to be a CFO in private industry. This unique experience has provided Joyce with in-depth knowledge, and respect, for the issues that affect her clients and their respective COO's and CFO's.
